US law firm Kirkland & Ellis has agreed to move its 550-strong London team to M&G Real Estate’s upcoming office building at 40 Leadenhall Street, EC3.
The site, of which Nuveen is development manager, will rise to 23 storeys when complete and has been dubbed “Gotham City”.
The deal means the US law firm will leave its current London base at the Gherkin, EC3, after 15 years.
Jon Ballis, chairman of Kirkland’s executive committee, said: “40 Leadenhall will be a modern and iconic building with state-of-the-art features.
“We will have a new, beautiful and welcoming environment in London for all our lawyers, staff and clients, with cutting-edge technology and workspaces.”
Other law firms to announce office moves recently include Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom and Travers Smith.
The former is set to move into 65,000 at 22 Bishopsgate, EC3, on a 15-year lease, while the latter will take up residency in Ivanhoe Cambridge’s development at Stonecutter Court, EC4.
