Natie Kirsh, the South African billionaire behind the purchase of iconic Tower 42, EC2, has bought 8-12 York Gate, NW1, for his own occupation.
Kirsh Holding Group has bought the long-leasehold interest in the 22,000 sq ft building opposite Regents Park from owner occupier, chartered accountant Blick Rothenberg. It has paid around £13m.
Kirsh, currently based in Finchley Road, NW3, is understood to have been looking for a more central location for the Kirsh family office for some years. It will occupy one floor and will sublet the remainder of the building.
Blick Rothenberg, which has been based at York Gate for 27 years, has agreed a new 10-year lease on Henderson Global Investors’ New Brook Buildings, WC2. It will move 175 staff into 25,000 sq ft at the property before the end of the year.
Senior partner Bob Rothenberg said: “This allows us to grow headcount by approximately 20% and fit out the floor the way we want it.”
Edward Charles & Partners advised Blick Rothenberg in WC2; EA Shaw and Jones Lang LaSalle acted for Henderson; Kirsh was unrepresented.
