Knicker factory to be luxury flats

Bath-based Sequoia is planning to turn a rundown former lingerie factory in Crewkerne, Somerset, into a luxury loft apartment and office scheme.

The group, led by former London & Regional director Jason Mills, has bought the 122,000 sq ft Grade II listed former Bonsoir of London factory.

The complex, which sits on a 1.5-acre site, includes a Regency townhouse, a Victorian three-story factory and a derelict Edwardian workhouse. Prior to its closure in 2004, the factory employed 400 workers hand-making luxury silk and cashmere nightwear for celebrities including Brad Pitt, Jennifer Aniston and Dame Jude Dench.

Sequoia plans to transform the site into a £29m mixed use scheme called Taylor’s Yard.

Mills set up the company last year with the aim of refurbishing, redeveloping and repositioning large, under-utilised period buildings across southern England. It has £150m of firepower to expand its portfolio.

Chesterton Humberts advised Bonsoir; Mowbray Woodward acted for Sequoia.
