Knight Frank IM names new chief investment officer

Knight Frank Investment Management has appointed John Styles as chief investment officer, following Matthew McDonald’s promotion to chief executive.

John Styles

Styles has been a member of KFIM’s board since the business launched in 2012 and is responsible for UK pension fund and insurance company client mandates.

During his 25 years in property investment management, Styles has been a fund manager for institutional investors including John Lewis Partnership Pension Fund, Lancashire County Pension Fund and the London Pensions Fund Authority.

Styles will continue to be responsible for the UK direct portfolio of Local Pensions Partnership Investments, one of the eight local government pension scheme asset pools.

KFIM said Styles’s track record in managing large balanced portfolios for public and private sector pension funds and insurance companies has been integral to the business’s growth over the past decade.

Styles will also continue in his role as chair of KFIM’s investment committee.

Styles said he is stepping into the role “at a time of significant change in the markets and the property investment management industry”.

He added: “Continuing to deliver strong financial returns while meeting ESG objectives for our clients and responding to some investors’ desire to make impactful investments will present interesting opportunities and challenges.”
