Matthew McDonald has stepped up to the chief executive role at Knight Frank Investment Management, following Kevin Aitchison’s move to Savills IM.
McDonald (pictured) has been a member of the KFIM board since 2015, with responsibility for the products division of the business.
He has more than 20 years’ experience in the field and as a fund manager of pooled property vehicles, and was responsible for KFIM’s principal pooled fund, the KFIM Long Income Property Unit Trust, established in 2016.
He previously held positions at Dorrington Properties, ING Real Estate Investment Management and CBRE Global Investors (now CBRE IM), where he was fund manager of the flagship core pooled property fund.
McDonald said: “Our ongoing focus will remain to provide the best possible property performance for clients, delivered with a personal level of service, while aiming to invest and manage client assets responsibly.”
In the past 10 years, KFIM has grown from £500m AUM to more than £4bn AUM.
Savills IM poached Aitchison for its new role of managing director for equity investments in the UK and Europe. He held the CEO post at KFIM for 11 years.
