Knight Frank takes top spot in South Wales

Knight Frank has been crowned the top office agent in Cardiff after finishing second for the past two years in a row.

The national agent was comfortably top of the EGi’s Cardiff office league table this year, disposing of just shy of 190,000 sq ft, or nearly a third of the market. It beat local agent Cooke and Arkwright to first place, which disposed of almost 150,000 sq ft, eating into a quarter of all office space signed for.

Knight Frank’s top deals by size included a 28,000 sq ft letting on the 8th and 9th floors of Brunel House on Fitzalan Road and a 22,000 sq ft letting at Number 1, Capital Quarter.

Cooke and Arkwright’s top deal, also at Brunel House, was a 40,000 sq ft letting to L&G.

Savills, which finished in third place with just over 129,000 sq ft, managed to secure the largest deal overall, with the sale of the 47,000 sq ft Peterson House at the Cardiff Gate Business Park.

Last year’s winner DTZ slipped from first to seventh place, finding tenants for 52,000 sq ft – a third less than last year. Its letting of 28,000 sq ft at Central Square was its largest deal of the year.

The total number of transactions was down 36% on the year before, though total floorspace disposed of was down just 9%, showing a growing preference in the market towards larger lot sizes.
