Kuehne+Nagel prelets East Midlands Gateway space

Global logistics company Kuehne+Nagel has taken a prelet at SEGRO’s East Midlands Gateway logistics park.

Swiss-based K+N will use the 195,547 sq ft space as a central UK location for its overland operations at the 700-acre site, which combines links to the M1 and East Midlands Airport.

Andy Gulliford, chief operating officer at SEGRO, said: “We are entering a new era of e-commerce as a mainstay of the UK economy. The supply of big-box warehousing, which provides uncompromising scale, location and connectivity, is fundamental in sustaining its growth.

“East Midlands Gateway exemplifies this critical infrastructure and signals our intent as a major player in the UK big-box market.”

Jim Hedderwick, director of overland for the UK business at K+N, added that the new facility will include a 40,000 sq ft temperature-controlled area to boost capacity in the pharmaceutical sector.

He said: “The new facility will enable us to continue to develop our European groupage product and will include a 40,000 sq ft temperature-controlled area to accelerate our growth plans within the pharmaceutical sector.”

Burbage Realty, CBRE and Savills are agents for East Midlands Gateway.
