LA Fitness subsidiary, Promise, is to expand into a number of cities across the UK by mid 2005.
The company, which launched in Bedford in September this year, says it will acquire 15 sites of between 2,000 and 4,000 sq ft in cities including London, Newcastle, Bristol, Edinburgh and Manchester.
The company, which was set up to appeal to those who would not normally visit a health club, has strict criteria for selecting sites:
Fred Turok, chief executive at LA Fitness, said: ”It is important that we stick to stringent criteria when selecting the sites, as it is an inherent part of the concept that the centre is accessible, convenient and appealing, not out of the way and easy to forget about.”
