Italian lingerie maker La Perla suffered falling sales in its first year under the ownership of German financier Lars Windhorst, according to newly published accounts. Mr Windhorst, a controversial businessman with a history of legal trouble, bought the lossmaking La Perla in February 2018 from Silvio Scaglia, an Italian entrepreneur and former legal adversary. La Perla’s accounts show that the company booked a €91m operating loss last year, an improvement over a €179m loss in 2017, but the group’s revenues fell nearly €28m to €106m.
