Lachlan Murdoch has spent a record-breaking $150m on a house made famous by Hillbillies.
The son of Rupert Murdoch and co-chairman of News Corp has set the record for most money paid for a Californian property after buying the Chartwell estate in Los Angeles.
The neo-classical, Bel Air chateau is best known as the home of the Clampett family from the 1960s TV series The Beverly Hillbillies.
The house itself spans 25,000 sq ft on a 10 acre estate, and comes with 18 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a wine vault for 12,000 bottles and an annual tax bill of $1.3m.
