A lack of affordable housing in the communities in which they grew up means young people are being forced to move away from their home towns, Communities secretary Greg Clarke told the Local Government Association in a speech on Thursday.
Greg said the country’s leaders needed to make sure that homes were there to ensure the chain of community.
Labour’s Harriet Harman told the association that the government was falling short on providing the requisite number of new homes, and that the number of those able to afford their own homes was falling.
