Lack of affordable housing to exclude 350,000 households from market

The lack of affordable housing means some 350,000 households will be excluded from the housing market by the end of the decade, according to research by Savills.

Savills calculates that around 70,000 new households annually over the next five years will be unable to afford market rates for renting or buying homes unless they are given help.

The figures include 26,000 households a year in London and 11,500 in the southeast, the areas worst hit.
