Laffin to step down at Assura

Assura’s chairman Simon Laffin will step down from the role at the firm’s AGM on 10 July.

Laffin, who will also retire as a non-executive director, was appointed chairman in 2011 and oversaw the healthcare REIT as it entered the FTSE 250 index in 2015.

Ed Smith, former chairman of NHS Improvement, has been appointed as Laffin’s successor after joining the board in October 2017.

David Richardson, senior independent director of Assura, said: “Simon’s vision and determination for the company has guided it through a turnaround from a business suffering severe financial difficulties in 2011 to the well-financed and focused company we have today.

“He leaves a strong management team and board in place. He retired with our thanks and best wishes for the future.”
