Estate agency Countrywide is still committed to offloading its Lambert Smith Hampton business after a £38m sale to real estate investor John Bengt Moeller stalled – and now has several possible buyers lining up to take a look.
The company updated the stock market on its business today, but made no mention of the LSH sale. However, a spokesman said that Countrywide still intends to sell LSH and is treating it as a “discontinued” operation for accounting purposes.
“They have had a number of parties that have expressed an interest in the business,” the spokesman added.
Countrywide said in early February that it had been unable to secure the payment necessary to close an agreed sale of LSH to real estate investor John Bengt Moeller owing to him “being indisposed during January and due to logistical difficulties relating to the transfer of the requisite completion monies”.
A month later Countrywide said Moeller had failed to complete the deal by the agreed deadline and that, although it was still engaging with him, it was also talking to another potential buyer and was considering taking action against Moeller for damages.
The spokesman said no progress has been made on the agreed sale to Moeller.
