Lancashire town of Prescot set to benefit from up to £45m of property development

Knowsley Council’s decision to invest £15m in Prescot means that up to £45m has now been earmarked for property development in the Lancashire town. BICC has long-standing plans for a £30m mixed-use scheme in Prescot.

The council’s plans involves the redesign and refurbishment of shop fronts in the town centre, new paving, improved parking facilities, seating and lighting.

A council spokesman confirmed that the council intends to seek planning consent for its scheme in December. The plans are currently at the public consultation stage.

Balfour Beatty subsidiary BICC won consent in 1990 for an 11,705 sq m (126,000 sq ft) non-food retail park, 2.02ha (5 acres) of residential development, and 32,515 sq m (350,000 sq ft) of leisure and industrial space.
