Land Aid chief executive Joanna Averley has expressed her gratitude for the support of the property industry over the past year.
The charity boss and Estates Gazette blogger said: “It has been a remarkable year for LandAid. We are well on track to break the record of previous years for funds raised and investments made. It has been great to forge a number of new and exciting partnerships with projects across the UK and it has been humbling to see the commitment made by the industry to our cause.” Averley also remarked that companies were increasingly focusing on the social impact they were making.
LandAid, the official charity of the UK commercial property industry, which supports young disadvantaged people, aims to invest £1m in charitable projects each financial year and has already committed £750,000.
Some of its most recent grants have gone to charities including Circle Sports in Hackney, Stepney Bank Stables in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Performances Birmingham and Kinetic Foundation in Croydon.
They have received funding of between £10,000 and £85,000, thanks mainly to LandAid’s foundation partners, which commit £10,000 each year, and also to fundraising events such as Property JOGLE, Charity Race Day and the LandAid Summer Run, which are also expected to be fixtures on the 2014 calendar.
