The Environment Agency has approved plans to build a £28m velodrome and sports centre on a former landfill site near Pride Park stadium in Derby.
The velodrome will feature a gym, function rooms, badminton and basketball courts, and a café.
Derby city council’s planning committee approved the scheme in March.
Construction on the 5,000-seat facility is scheduled to take between 18 and 24 months.
