Analysis of Airbnb listings indicates some 60,000 properties that were previously long-term rentals are now holiday lets.
More than half of Airbnb’s 110,000 UK listings are for entire homes, indicating it is being used by professional landlords rather than just homeowners.
Councils have accused the website of pushing up rents, and say that landlords can get three times more a night than through long-term renting.
