Landlords’ tax challenge fails

A High Court judge has dismissed an attempt to seek a judicial review of tax changes due to come into effect from next year that would limit the level of mortgage interest payments landlords can offset against tax.

Around 700 landlords and letting agents led by Steve Bolton and Chris Cooper had sought the review. The changes take full effect in 2020-21.

The changes will affect individual landlords but will not apply to corporate landlords or holiday lets.
