Landsec gets green light for Portland House revamp

Landsec has won planning approval for its revamp of Portland House in Victoria, SW1, which includes a 15-storey extension.

The facelift, designed by Gensler, will see the building’s office space refurbished to provide 541,500 sq ft, a 29% increase on the current space. Its brutalist exterior will be refreshed and windows replaced. It will also house a public bar and restaurant on the top floor.

Landsec said a revamp of the 1960s 28-storey tower would use one-third of the CO2 per sq m compared with constructing a new building.
