Landsec has launched CO.LAB, a 5,000 sq ft micro-retail pop-up, at its St David’s centre in Cardiff.
The space, opened in a joint venture with Lone Design Club, will provide a physical location for online brands. It opens on 26 September and will remain in place until 29 December.
The pop-up will be available for more than 80 brands offering space at rents starting from £500 a month.
The store will be fully tech-integrated, providing an omnichannel view and the ability to track digital engagement, online sales and web traffic. CO.LAB will also feature a shared multi-use event space designed for product launches, customer engagement events, and immersive experiences, further enhancing the space’s appeal and functionality.
“Having supported more than 3,000 brands into retail locations across the past six years at Lone Design Club, we saw the need for easier access, relevant and community-driven spaces,” said LDC founder and chief executive Rebecca Morter. “Opening a store is no easy feat, and often, we forget the marketing and community essential to its success.”
Ilana Sarner, Landsec brand director, added: “This is a new way of retailing, where we bring together a community of brands to offer unique experiences to our customers. By giving these future-thinking brands a stepping stone into physical retail, we’re not only opening up an opportunity for an exciting new pipeline but also offering our guests a new point of discovery.”
CO.LAB has been launched in response to a growing demand for physical space from direct-to-consumer retailers. Some 32% of brands on Shopify have said that they plan to establish their pop-up presence this year.
