Landsec is looking for a new chairman to replace Dame Alison Carnwath, who intends to retire from the board this year.
Carnwath has served nine years as chairman and 13 years on the property company’s board, and will continue in her role until a replacement is found.
For years, she was the only female chairman of a FTSE 100 company until Sarah Bates was made chairman of wealth management firm St James’s Place in 2014.
Carnwath worked in investment banking and corporate finance for 20 years, with positions ranging from senior partner at Phoenix Securities to managing director at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette.
She is also a senior adviser to Evercore and Livingbridge Private Equity.
Landsec said it has been conducting a process with assistance from external consultants to identify and appoint a replacement.
