Otis, the world’s biggest lift manufacturer, is to merge two of its UK subsidiaries – Express Lifts, based in Northampton, and Evans Lifts of Leicester – with the loss of about 700 staff. The new company, Express Evans Lifts, will be based in Leicester. Nearly 500 jobs will be lost in Northampton and more than 200 at 25 other Express sites throughout the country.
