Lateral hires from 3PM to bolster life sciences expertise

Asset and development manager Lateral has appointed Rob Burborough as non-executive director of science, adding further expertise to the team.

Burborough (pictured) has more than 25 years’ experience, delivering complex facilities in the private and public sectors specialising in cell and gene therapy, chemistry, biotechnology and R&D. He has been a partner for 3PM Project Management for more than a decade, after leaving Turner & Townsend in 2012, where he was a director for eight years.

In his new role, Burborough will support Lateral’s vision to become the life sciences operating partner of choice for the capital trying to access the market.

Rob Beacroft, director at Lateral, said: “We are already reaping the benefits of Rob’s 25 years of expertise, his insight into the evolution of the life sciences sector and, critically, his connections. Rob’s commitment is testament to our hard work and dedication to become the operating partner of choice in this sector.”

The appointment comes as Lateral, in a joint venture with Amazon Capital, recently acquired Mortlock House in Cambridge as part of its drive to deliver service-led lab space to suit all sizes of occupier.

Previously, Lateral acquired a site in Whitechapel, adjacent to the Royal London Hospital, which will be the first major site to be brought forward as lab space in the area’s emerging life sciences cluster.
