Moda Living is set to receive “planning permission in principle” for a 709-home build-to-rent scheme in Lancefield Quay, Glasgow.
An outline application for 730 homes was approved by Glasgow City Council in December 2022.
Moda’s application was filed in partnership with GDRI, a joint venture between Osborne+Co and MRP.
The latest detailed application comprises 709 homes in buildings of four to 21 storeys, to be built in two phases. The first phase would provide 409 homes and the second 300 homes. It also proposes 101 parking spaces.
The application has received 13 objections based on the potential detrimental impact on light and privacy to residential properties to the west of the application site, inadequate parking provision and impact on congestion.
James Blakey, director of planning and engagement at Moda Group, said: “Lancefield Quay represents a brownfield site with huge potential, in a key city location that has been vacant or under-utilised for many years. The plans have been created collaboratively with Glasgow City Council and have been adapted to include a variety of local views. Lancefield Quay also reiterates Moda’s commitment to Glasgow – where it already has two operational residential neighbourhoods – and to Scotland, which has significant potential for the delivery of homes at scale.
“Outline plans for this neighbourhood were granted in December 2022. The current application brings forward the fine tuned details of a best-in-class, inclusive new neighbourhood for Glasgow city Centre, including new public realm and landscaped squares, a new boulevard and extensive amenity provision, in addition to the new homes which are so urgently needed given the national housing emergency in Scotland. We are pleased that the project has been recommended for approval, and hope members will endorse Lancefield Quay at committee to pave the way for the site’s regeneration, and a thriving new neighbourhood for Glasgow.”
