Lavazza to open first UK coffee shop

Italian coffee specialist Lavazza has signed up to open its first UK coffee shop and restaurant at Parkway shopping centre in Newbury, Berkshire.

Lavazza has taken a 3,500 sq ft shop on Parkway’s Middle Street, between Fat Face and Barclays, for its first directly-owned store. It is set to open this summer.

Other recent lettings at Parkway include children’s toy store The Entertainer, fashion retailer Joules and optician Ottica. John Lewis opened its eighth At Home store at Parkway in April.

Ed Jenkins, head of UK retail at Standard Life Investments, said: “After opening last October, we have secured some fantastic retailers, and since we opened the doors to John Lewis At Home last month, our footfall is consistently up by 17% and car park usage has increased 40%.”

Strutt & Parker and Jones Lang LaSalle advise Standard Life.
