Canary Wharf has confirmed that international law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has taken 140,000 sq ft (13,000 sq m) of office space in the HQ3 building at Heron Quays.
As tipped by EGi in September, the 32-storey, 600,000 sq ft (55,740 sq m) tower, designed by One Canada Square architect Cesar Pelli, is under construction, next to the Jubilee Line station at Canary Wharf.
Skadden Arps also has options to acquire an additional 40,000 sq ft (3,716 sq m) of office space at HQ3, which it can exercise prior to occupation.
A source close to the deal said that Skadden Arps would pay rent of around £42 per sq ft (£452 per sq m).
The law firm has been a long-term tenant at Canary Wharf, and currently occupies 60,000 sq ft (5,570 sq m) of office space in One Canada Square.
It is expected that staff already based there will transfer to the new building on its completion.
