Law firm signs up for Argent’s Brindleyplace

In a coup for developer Argent, solictor Beachcroft Wansbroughs (BW) is close to signing up for 2,322 sq m (25,000 sq ft) of offices at Brindleyplace in Birmingham.

If a deal is completed, BW will be the first law firm in Birmingham to be enticed out of the city centre office district around Colmore Row to Brindleyplace. The development has already secured British Telecom, the Royal Mail and Vodafone as office occupiers. However, with the exception of property consultancy GVA Grimley, Argent’s mixed-use scheme has yet to attract a traditional city centre professional occupier.

BW is believed to be looking at space at No. 9 Brindleyplace, which is currently under construction. The 3,530 sq m (38,000 sq ft) mixed-use building in the second phase of the development, off Oozzells Square, has already secured radio station BRMB and restaurant Petit Blanc as occupiers.

Only 1,486 sq m (16,000 sq ft) remains available in the building and another city centre solicitor is believed to be targeting the majority of that space. When fully let, No. 9 could be sold off by Argent, which has a funding agreement with Hermes at Brindleyplace.

GVA Grimley and Richard Ellis St Quintin are joint letting agents on offices at Brindleyplace.
