LCR takes on new assets

Government-owned London & Continental Railways has today taken over a number of properties and staff of BRB (Residuary).

BRBR was wound up under the Public Bodies Act 2011. It was created in 2001 to manage the majority of the remaining properties, rights and liabilities of the British Railways Board.

The deal sees London & Continental Railways assume responsibility for a number of properties, including management of Waterloo International station on behalf of the secretary of state for transport, and some 900,000 sq ft of offices.

A total of 15 employees will transfer over to London & Continental. The group’s chief executive David Joy said: “We want to build on our existing experience at King’s Cross and in Stratford and use our now combined expertise to identify new opportunities, especially when it comes to promoting development and regeneration around railway lands and stations.”
