LDA to draw up Plymouth waterfront masterplan

Plans for the redevelopment of Plymouth’s waterfront area at Millbay are to be drawn up by urban designer LDA.

LDA’s Exeter office has been appointed by English Partnerships and South West Regional Development Agency to produce a blueprint for new homes, offices, a hotel, bars and restaurants.

English Partnerships and SWRDA acquired the 24-acre (9.71ha) site from Associated British Ports last year for £9m.

The sale included East Quay, Clyde Quay and the undeveloped area of the Inner Basin.

Bernie Foulkes, director of LDA’s Exeter office said: “Millbay is one of the most important regeneration opportunities in the South West and the most significant area of waterfront yet to be developed in Plymouth.”

David Warburton, area director for English Partnerships, added: “The development of Millbay Docks is a core component of our partnership with SWRDA in western Plymouth.”
