H&M and Dixons have signed up space in Morley Properties’ 40,000 sq m (430,000 sq ft) extension to The Lanes shopping centre in Carlisle.
H&M has taken 1,115 sq m (12,000 sq ft) at a rental of £265,000 pa on a 15-year lease. Dixons has let a 464 sq m (5,000 sq ft) store at a rent of £156,000 pa over a 20-year period. Debenhams has already let 9,754 sq m (105,000 sq ft) to anchor the £30m development, which also comprises a 23-unit mall.
The extension is being carried out by Morley on behalf of CGU Life and Carlisle council and is due to open in October. The centre is presently anchored by Bhs and C&A.
Strutt & Parker and Donaldsons acted for Morley and the council. Donaldsons’ Eileen Connolly said that the recent Experian Retail Ranking Survey had shown Carlisle’s vitality score rise by 10 %.
