Regent Estates has signed an agreement with English Heritage for the redevelopment of the historic Regent Hotel in Leamington Spa as a £30m shopping and leisure scheme.
The developer proposes a 14,860 sq m (160,000 sq ft) scheme, retaining the 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) upper part of the listed hotel for hotel use. Regent also proposes 7,430 sq m (80,000 sq ft) of shops and a 5,570 sq m (60,000 sq ft) of leisure including an eight screen multiplex.
Warwick council is expected to rule on the planning application by the end of November. The Regent Hotel opened in 1819 and was once the largest hotel in the world.
Oliver Liggins is letting agent for the scheme.
