The £165m Victoria Gate shopping development in Leeds opens today, and should see the city move into third place in the regional retail rankings, ahead of Birmingham.
The shopping centre adjoins developer Hammerson’s existing Victoria Quarter site, giving a combined 500,000 sq ft of space.
The new centre counts John Lewis among its tenants and aims to attract some of the high-end spending that is currently going elsewhere.
