Leeds debates 1,780 new BTR homes
A trio of planning applications from Platform_, Hub and Glenbrook could see a further 1,780 build-to-rent homes in Leeds.
The three schemes are set to be debated at Leeds City Council’s planning committee on 27 January.
The proposals would be significant rise for the BTR market, which was estimated at 10,562 homes at the end of last year.

The proposals would be significant rise for the BTR market, which was estimated at 10,562 homes at the end of last year.
After buying the eight-acre former Burberry site last year, Platform_ hopes to build 1,235 flats, 760 of which will be BTR. Westrock and Platform_’s pre-application proposes market sale housing and two office blocks.
The pair have proposed residential towers of between 10 and 27 storeys. The site is located to the south of the river, in the Holbeck neighbourhood. Platform_ has been in discussions with the council over these proposals since November 2020.
A second scheme, still in pre-planning, comes from Leeds-based Town Centre Securities and joint venture partner Glenbrook.
TCS has brought Glenbrook on board to incorporate 532 BTR flats as part of a £280m development at Whitehall Riverside, in the city centre. The pair are lining up a number of applications, with detailed plans for BTR expected in the first phase.
Glenbrook recently bought a five-acre site on Kirkstall Road with consent for 631 homes. The deal marked its BTR debut in the city, following from schemes in Manchester, Salford and Liverpool.
Hub and Bridges Fund Management’s plans for a further 488 BTR homes at the former Doncaster Monk Bridge Works site on Whitehall Road will also be reviewed.
The joint venture is seeking approval for detailed plans for the scheme, comprising two towers of 26 and 31 storeys (pictured). The plans make up the second phase of development after 463 homes in phase one of Latitude Purple, currently under construction.
Leeds’ planning officers have recommended the plans to be deferred with the decision delegated to the chief planning officer.
