Leeds Focus reception and awards

A good first quarter for Leeds’ office market was reason enough for a lunchtime tipple at the end of April, but no one believes wholesale recovery is under way. “Patchy” is a word used several times during the course of Estates Gazette’s annual Leeds Focus reception. One good quarter needs to be followed by another to convince that there is real sign of market improvements, although some are more optimistic than others.

Still, that wasn’t going to keep Yorkshire’s property industry great and good from sinking a beer or two. And there was extra reason to celebrate for the winners of our two Yorkshire and North East Awards.

Land Securities took home the property company of the year accolade for transforming Leeds’ shopping and leisure offer with its 1m sq ft Trinity Leeds development, which opened in March.

And Sanderson Weatherall continued its winning streak, lifting the property adviser of the year trophy, having transacted the most floorspace proportionate to sector, according to EGi data. Congratulations to both winners.
