Leeds green lights Drum’s office-to-residential redevelopment

Drum has secured planning consent from Leeds Council for its first major residential scheme in the city.

The developer has proposed to transform the existing site of Evolution House, an office building on Springwell Road in the northern part of Holbeck, to create a 27-storey residential-led tower featuring 391 flats.

The new scheme, to be called Whitehall Sidings, will comprise a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom homes alongside ground floor commercial space such as workspace, family areas, a wellness suite and a bike store. The 12th floor will host a residents’ amenity space, lounge and private dining areas as well as a roof terrace, with further residents’ amenity space on the 26th floor.

Graeme Bone, managing director at Drum, said: “We are excited to bring our vision for Whitehall Sidings to life – transforming an urban brownfield site into a vibrant community with a diverse mix of homes and exceptional indoor and outdoor amenities.

“This development will not only provide much-needed residential accommodation but also contribute to the growth of the emerging mixed-use neighbourhood along Whitehall Road, further enhancing the area’s character and appeal.”
