Leeds City Council has granted planning permission for Caddick Developments’ £150m Quarry Hill Scheme.
The Leeds city centre scheme will cover 685,000 sq ft and will include 106,000 sq ft of offices, 35,000 sq ft of leisure, 700 homes and 7,500 sq ft of retail space, as well as amenities such as a medical centre.
The project has been underway since 2002 when Caddick was chosen as the preferred developer, and had approval in principal in 2005.
The project occupies a site adjacent to the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds College of Music, BBC studios and Northern Ballet headquarters.
The company said it believes the project will help improve the public spaces in Leeds city centre and strengthen the city’s cultural quarter.
