Leeds United plans redevelopment but denies bid talks with media company

Leeds Sporting, which owns Leeds United Football Club, denied that it was in takeover talks with a media company. However it admitted talking with a number of parties about media opportunities for the club and possible development of the site around the ground.

Leeds hopes to add an indoor arena, hotel and leisure development to the site. Leeds City council is expected to grant outline planning permission at the end of the month.

Chairman Peter Ridsdale said that “We are not in discussions with anybody that we believe would lead to a takeover”. Leeds has been suggested as a possible target for Granada, the local TV company.
