Plans for a £35m student accomodation project in Leicester city centre will go before the council today.
The Western Road project is being proposed by Jamie Lewis Residential Lettings and has faced more than 300 objections from the local community, despite a redesign.
Original proposals for a single 15-storey block with 1,000 student beds has been massively scaled back to two five-storey buildings with 581 beds and two further blocks with staff areas, a cafe, gym, reception and utilities.
Local residents group the Upperton Road Area Residents Association, is concerned about loss of daylight and an increase in noise and anti-social behaviour.
Council officers have recommended the plans for approval subject to conditions, including a financial contribution from the developer of £117,000, with work starting on site within three years.
