Shopping Centres, the joint venture between Slough Estates and Tesco, has bought the freehold of the 9,780sq m (105,000sq ft) Beaumont Shopping Centre on Leicester’s outer ring road from Leicester Council for about £6.5m.
The purchasers already hold the long leasehold from the council. Developed by Tesco in the mid 1980s, the centre comprises 46 unit shops, a public house, covered market, petrol filling station and surface parking for 1,150 cars.
The centre has a total area of 9.5ha (23.5 acres) and is managed by Slough Retail Management. Besides Tesco, key tenants include Boots, Iceland, Martins, Dixons and McDonalds. Healey & Baker advised Shopping Centres.
