The new plans complement the £30m redevelopment of the Tigers’ north stand at its Welford Road ground which is now underway and will raise the ground’s capacity to 30,000 making it the largest purpose-built rugby stadium in the country.

Architect AFL has designed the scheme for which a decision is due on the application by May 2009.

The Frank Whittle Partnership is project managing the stadium project.
