Lemley quit as ODA chair over contaminated site

Jack Lemley, the US engineer, resigned as chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority last month amid concerns that work to remove contamination from the site was behind schedule.

Contractors had been appointed buy they had yet to begin removing any hazardous waste.

A spokesman for Lemley said he had been frustrated by lack progress. “He believes there is not enough knowledge of the contamination and potential hazards buried there.”

Lemley is understood to have been furious at suggestions by mayor for London Ken Livingstone that he had stepped down for health reasons.
