Legal & General has hired Essential Living’s Damon Brown and Berkeley’s David Jones for its housing team.
Brown will join as a construction portfolio manager and will be responsible for overseeing activities at L&G’s principal urban regeneration projects. He will also assist with build-to-rent and build-to-sell investments.
Jones joins from Berkeley Homes as modular integration director, and will be responsible for the interaction between L&G’s factory and its clients. Its 55,000 sq ft factory can employ up to 400 people and produce 3,500 homes a year when fully operational.
L&G says it is looking to build a pipeline of 70,000 homes over the next five to ten years through its various arms.
James Lidgate, director of housing at Legal & General Capital, said: “L&G owns a portfolio of housing-related investments, notably, CALA – our build-to-rent model – and L&G Homes. L&G’s long term, develop-to-hold approach allows it to invest for the future.”
