Legal & General has made three senior appointments for LGIM Real Asset’s private credit business.
Calum Macphail, former head of private placements at M&G, will join as head of corporate private credit and Tom Sumpster, former head of acquisition finance at Royal Bank of Canada, will be head of infrastructure debt at the company’s London office.
Meanwhile, Ed Wood joined the Chicago office as head of US private placements. He was previously part of Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s debt private placement group.
Three junior hires at LGIM Real Asset were also appointed to the team.
Nicholas Bamber, head of private credit at LGIM Real Assets, said: “There remains significant demand for high-quality private credit across each of the corporate, infrastructure and property asset classes, enabling large insurance companies and pension funds to achieve diversification of their portfolios, improve the structures and seek additional yield.
“We will continue to invest in new talent and to widen the scope of investment opportunities for our clients.”
