Legal & General Modular Homes has been given planning consent to build 154 modular homes in Selby, North Yorkshire.
It marks the first scheme where L&G’s modular homes division will deliver a development from buying land right through to delivery.
The Portholme Road scheme will include up to 30% affordable housing on the site of the former Selby civic centre.
It will create up to 130 jobs and L&G Modular Homes will recruit a further 50 employees to deliver the development.
Rosie Toogood, chief executive of Legal & General Modular Homes, said: “Using modular construction, Legal & General will be able to deliver high-quality homes at a much faster rate than through traditional construction.
“In a post-Covid-19 crisis environment, the speed of delivery will be more important than ever before.”
The announcement comes as L&G Modular Homes reopens its factory in Sherburn-in-Elmet following coronavirus disruption.
Its 550,000 sq ft factory reopened last week and 75 staff have returned to work.
