L&G Homes makes new appointment

Legal & General Homes has appointed Chris Sly as finance director in a move to strengthen its housebuilding business.

Sly was previously head of finance for the western division at Berkeley Homes, where he was involved in demerging the business from St James Group.

Before joining Berkeley, Sly was senior finance manager at BT Openreach and commercial finance manager at E.ON.

Alongside Sly’s appointment, Legal & General also appointed Matthew Stubblefield as its health and safety officer.

The expansion of the team is part of Legal & General’s plan to deliver more than 80,000 properties in the next five to 10 years.

At the moment, it has three sites across Berkshire and Oxfordshire with a pipeline of more than 3,000 homes.

James Lidgate, chief executive of Legal & General Homes, said: “As well as addressing the chronic shortfall of housing in the UK, Legal & General Homes is looking to regenerate the UK’s landscape for the better and build vibrant communities where people want to live.

“To do this we are putting together a capable and experienced team. Both Chris and Matthew are excellent additions to the company and join at an exciting time for Legal & General Homes as we build thousands of new homes and our schemes to come to life across Berkshire and Oxfordshire.”
