A rent-to-own proposal included in the Liberal Democrats’ manifesto would enable young people to use their rent payments to own their homes outright after 30 years.
The proposal could provide 30,000 homes a year at an annual cost of £300m by 2022.
The scheme is aimed at the 25-34 age bracket.
