Liberty Properties and wet wipe manufacturer Nice-Pak International have secured planning permission for a 400,000 sq ft manufacturing unit at Westwood Park, Wigan.
The plan was submitted in October, to redevelop the former Westwood Power Station site.
Work on the project is due to start in 2015.
Once completed 150 staff will relocate from Nice-Pak’s existing space in Hindley Green and a further 100 jobs will be created at the new site.
The new development has, in part, been funded by Regional Growth Funding which it secured with the support of Wigan council.
JLL planning and development director Mike Hopkins said: “Securing consent for Nice-Pak’s manufacturing unit at Westwood Park is a significant step forward for the company in delivering a high-quality facility, which will enable its continued expansion in the UK. The support from the council in delivering the permission in under eight weeks demonstrates its commitment to the development of Westwood Park and to economic growth in the borough.”
Liberty Properties development director Emyr Williams said: “We were very impressed with the professionalism and proactive approach taken by Wigan council’s team, who worked extremely hard to help deliver this significant inward investment and achieve the occupier’s requirements. The team did exactly as it had said it would do and we would certainly like to promote further opportunities in Wigan.”
JLL advised on planning.
