Lichfields names new chair as expansion spree continues

Lichfields has appointed Jonathan Wallace as its new chair to enhance the consultancy’s position in the planning and development industry.

Wallace, a senior director and board member, has previously led the company’s Newcastle office and brings 30 years of planning experience to the role. He is a town centre and retail expert, having worked for major clients such as Marks & Spencer, McDonald’s and BP.

In his new role, Wallace will combine his fee-earning responsibilities with chairing the board and contributing to defining the strategic direction of the company.

Wallace will take over the reins from Justin Gartland, who has been in the role for the past 10 years and has presided over the expansion of the company, including opening four new offices, during his tenure.

Gartland will continue in his fee-earning role in the Leeds office.

James Fennell, chief executive at Lichfields, said: “Jonathan will be central to the delivery of our business strategy and making the most of the many opportunities that we have identified for the future.”
