Supermarket chain Lidl UK has been given the go-ahead for a new London headquarters after the Royal Borough of Kingston planning committee approved its application.
Lidl UK plans to invest more than £70m into moving its head office team to the new 240,000 sq ft headquarters in Tolworth, south west London.
The plans will have to be agreed in Kingston and then referred to the mayor of London’s office for approval. The company expects to move forward with the plans early in the new year.
Ingo Fischer, Lidl UK’s director for expansion and development, said: “Our new headquarters not only signify an investment in our own infrastructure and workforce, but also highlight our wider ambitions within London as Lidl UK continues to experience incredible growth.”
The move comes as Lidl announced plans to open about 250 new stores in the capital.
